The Deshon Johnson College Scholarship Foundation is a nationally recognized and award-wining nonprofit music
education and performance organization headquartered in Montclair, NJ. We seek
dynamic and highly motivated individuals for internship positions during Spring
2015 term. Internships are available in all areas of the organization
including: arts management, music education, marketing and communication,
fundraising special events, and financial operations. Every effort is made to
custom-design an internship that meets the objectives of the intern and the
needs of the organization.
Requirements
These
exciting and engaging positions require highly motivated, entrepreneurial and
organized candidates with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The right candidates will also possess excellent interpersonal communication
skills. The suitable candidates must be able to manage deadlines in a
fast-paced work environment. Interest in working with youth, educators, and fundraiser, social justice and desire to learn or deepen their understanding of the mission.
Proficiency using social media platforms is critical. Strong administrative and
computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.) and proven research abilities are
fundamental. This position requires creative thinking, strong independent work
skills and intellectual curiosity.
Interns
work closely with experts in key nonprofit fields of this growing organization. Selected interns may work for one or
more of the following departments:
Marketing
& Communications: Media
relations, social media, advertising, grassroots communication, newsletter
writing, photo archiving, publications development, planning and execution,
tracking, website development
Development: Donor and grant research, crowd
funding, annual fund
development, donor relations and information management
Operations: Special programs and event planning, event coordination and logistics, vendor relations and research, artist
relations, facility support and festival planning
Education
and Community Programs: Planning,
coordination and evaluation of education and community, teaching artist
recruitment, strategic planning, community relations and safety, school outreach
In
exchange for your time and honing your skill set in fields of interest, you
will gain first-hand experience and insight into working in the nonprofit
sector across a variety of platforms under the tutelage of a passionate team of
professionals and world-class artists.

MODEL
APPLICATION INFORMATION
MODEL CRITERIA &
REQUIREMENTS:
Models must be age 12 or older.
The clothing worn during our shows are provided by Noneillah/ other designers and
are sizes 6x and 10. All models will be required to attend the fitting and
photography event on February 18 Wednesday 6pm-8pm and a
rehearsal will be up to late February or first week of March. Call Naomi for location at 973-432-6463.
HOW ARE MODELS
SELECTED?
Every girl must attend the
Model Call at Noneillah’s assigned locations to be considered. Noneillah will
provide clothing for the shows and specific measurements for each outfit.
Females and Males fashion will be selected primarily based on measurements.
Female or Male may not select the outfit they model; the Fashion Show committee
of Noneillah or clothing designer Naomi chooses the female or male they/she
feel is the best match for each garments.
WHEN WILL MODELS BE SELECTED?
Models will be selected after
the Model Call. We do our best to select the female or male and notify them
within one week.
IF YOU Are SELECTED:
You would be required to
attend the fitting and photography event on selected date. At the fitting, the
models will try on their clothing and be photographed by a professional
photographer. These photos will be given to all volunteer models. If you are
paid models the photos will be available for purchase.
Each models are required to
attend rehearsal at the assigned location all the way up to the March 5 Show at
Montclair Chill 312 Bloomfield Avenue Montclair NJ 07042.
Models would not need to
purchase a ticket to the show because she or he will be backstage during the
show. All parents, siblings and guests wanting to watch the show will need to
purchase tickets in advance. The shows sell out very quickly!
IF YOU ARE NOT SELECTED:
If you are not selected you
can still walk the runway as a "Guest Model" (limited spaces
available). As a Guest Model, You would have the opportunity to walk the
runway at intermission as our Announcer shares information about her with the
audience. Guest Models will walk and wear their own clothing. Please note that
Guest Models and their guests must purchase tickets to the fashion show. All
Guest Models must attend the show prepared to walk the runway as they will not
be able to change clothing before intermission.
If you are chooses not
to be a Guest Model in the show, your Model Fee will be refunded.

Deshon Johnson who was tragically killed by a bus on his way to work July 18th,
2012 when Coach USA bus driver operating NJ Transit bus jumped the curb
