Montclair High School is Honoring a Student with the first Deshon Johnson's Memorial Scholarship

Deshon Johnson's Memorial Scholarship

On June 6, 2013, at 6:30PM, Montclair High School where Deshon Johnson was a 2008 graduate will be honoring a student with the first Deshon Johnson’s Memorial Scholarship. Deputy Mayor Bob Russo will be presenting the scholarship and speaking on the behalf of the Johnson's family.

Deshon was in the honor society and on the wrestling team in high school. Also, he was chosen to study over-seas twice as an exchange student. He attended Mount Hebron Middle School and Northeast Elementary. While in Mount Hebron Deshon song in the
chorus and he was on the art community school project and his artwork was displayed in the Montclair Museum.  At the age 22, this young man established one online business with a friend James Little and Matthew Vickers his cousin called Still Hip-Hop Stash. He also, establishes two other online businesses on his own called Noneillah blog radio-station and Noneillahstore.com.

After Deshon’s demise, the gentleman changed the website to Noenillah.com in his honor. Noneillah was Deshon tag line used when he sung and rapped. Deshon established an online blog radio-station call Noneillah and Noneillahstore.com. He also worked, attended college, wrote music and took care of his mother Naomi Johnson.  Deshon would have graduated from Essex County College this year with an A.A.S Degree in Business Finance. However, I am glad to announce that on May 16, 2013 at the Annual Award Graduation Ceremony, the Dean of Students Viereira and Interim President Gale Gibson honored Deshon L. Johnson with a Posthumous certificate/degree in Business Finance in good academic standing.

Deshon did so much at a tender young age. Sorrowfully, this young man’s life ended so tragically on July 18, 2013, by a Coach USA driver owned by NJ Transit bus sped around the corner when the back wheel of the bus jumped the curb knocking Deshon down and dragged him to his demise. The Johnson family and friends still does not have any true answers to what happen to this young man from the prosecutor’s office. Sadly to say, justice has not yet been served for this remarkable young man and no one wants to be held accountable for this intelligent young man demise. The world and Montclair Township lost a remarkable young man who had a lot to contribute. Also, a mother lost her only child who did not have any children of his own.

Deshon Johnson’s College Scholarship has been established at the three schools he attended, Montclair High School, Kean University and Essex County College.
