DJCSF Volunteer's List
Join a committee
Become a member of The Deshon Johnson
College Scholarship Foundation. Each membership helps us build a strong voice
for making our community safer for pedestrian against careless bus drivers and
company who do not want to take account for a loved one lost.
Members are encouraged to join one of our
various committees to help further the effort of safety against reckless bus
drivers. Listed below are various positions of the committees.
Community out Reach advocate:
This committee keeps the community
informed about issues and events related to reckless bus drivers increasing
fatality. They also spread the word about the high rise of reckless bus
drivers, building a relationship with other organizations with the same
interest.
Education:
The education committee is focused on
educating members of bus drivers reckless driving and raising safety awareness,
pedestrian safety and other issues.
Legal Volunteer Committee:
We are looking for law students/attorney
to do Pro bono services to provide professional growth and personal
satisfaction; respect and recognition from colleagues and community
opportunities to learn new areas of the law and gain valuable hands-on
experience; and, most importantly, opportunities to change lives.
Participate in local Events &
Educational Initiatives:
DJCSF works with chapters and members to
host several events year-round to keep the conversation and movement going.
Events include the annual DJCSF Student Leadership Conference, regional DJCSF

development.
International Volunteer advocate:
We are looking for someone who can defend,
who pleads another's case, or who calls for one's aid to raise awareness for
safety of public transportation for pedestrian against reckless bus drivers.
"This volunteer role is for someone who chose to commit their time,
talent, and influences to help others. DJCSF advocates increase the awareness
of the needs of family who are unable to speak up about the loss of their love
one who life was taken due to a bus accident caused by bus drivers.
Parents Bereavement Volunteer Committee:
Bereavement volunteers assist those who
have experienced the loss of someone close. They might make support calls, meet
one-on-one with individuals, or co-facilitate grief support groups.
Support is offered during the year
following the death of a loved one. One-on-one visits may take place in a home,
coffee shop, or another location where the bereaved is most comfortable meeting.
Volunteers listen and help the bereaved to
discover resources available to them. Grief Support Groups are offered in
various communities in our service area. The volunteer must have knowledge of
counseling and training in this area.
It is often said that there is no greater
loss than the loss of a child. It is what every parent fears and--if it
happens--it can be intense enough to drive many people away. What every family
member and friend faced with helping a grieving parent needs to know is that
their help will be needed eventually.
It may not be beneficial straight
away, but some day it will be. You need to judge the timing and need by the
nature of the people involved and by how events unfold.
What a bereaved parent wants the most is
to have their child back. Sadly, no one can grant that wish. But, you
"can" help. Knowing the right and wrong things to say or do when you
are trying to help is important, while much of this will require your
heightened sensitivity to the particular situation.
Board Committee Volunteer:
We are looking for reliable, committed,
motivated and responsible decision making individuals to join our Committee
Board.
Political Volunteer:
We are looking for someone who wants to
join our political advocate committee. The individual should have knowledge of
political law, political science, oral communication and good written skills.
The individual should not be afraid to approach a political figure with
diplomacy and address law changes.

marketing committee. An individual must Target personalized emails and web
content to drive fundraising and engagement. Increased amounts dynamically
based on a donor's giving history.

up automatically based on constituent actions.

email that engages them quickly. Build deeper relationships with other
business.
Tailor campaigns to donor interests and
motivations. Customize online information, gift levels and campaigns to
individual donor preferences. Support one-time, recurring, installment,
honor/memorial, membership and designated gift options as well as premiums,
matching gifts, EFT/ACH, PayPal and Amazon processing. Turn data into insights
that lead to powerful multi-channel messaging and fundraising.
Volunteer Coordinator:
Act as the main point of contact for
volunteers; Conduct phone screens, interviews, and coordinate the placement
established partnerships, and volunteer at various functions to recruit
members.
Maintain the files of all volunteers and
lead the volunteer on boarding the foundation.
Enter all collected data into database for
monthly reports
Coordinate placement for volunteers;
provide clear and welcoming on boarding.
Assist with additional projects as
necessary.
Fundraising Committee:
Do you have creative ideas, enjoy working
with a team, are a people person, enjoy raising money and have a passion for
DJCSF?
Volunteers help with preparations leading
up to the event along with the actual event including annual and one time
fundraising/charity events.
Some of the fundraisers include small
community participation in various venues. Other fundraisers can be done by
individuals and groups in the community and donate partial or all proceeds to
The Deshon Johnson College Scholarship Foundation.
As a Development Team Member you can be
involved in the essential planning, production and follow-up on various events.
Event Planning Committee:
Event Planning Committee Volunteer is
responsible to take a lead role in the planning of the event. This would
include choosing one of many lead roles, attending meetings on a monthly or
bi-monthly meeting, and following through with agreed upon leadership role.

life special events/ occasions and celebrate their loved ones life; instead the
grieving family have to remember their loved ones on their death anniversary
