The Deshon Johnson Memorial Scholarship is in honor/memory of Kean University student Deshon Johnson who was mowed down by a Coach USA bus driver operating NJ Transit bus 709 on his way to work. The bus driver sped around the corner as his back wheel jumped the curb knock him down and dragged Deshon to his demise on Wednesday July 18, 2012.

Intended to provide financial support to a full-time
undergraduate student with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of 4.0. Preference will be
given to a business or business-related major who demonstrates financial need.
