Honoring Deshon Johnson With A Proclamation For Pedestrian Safety Month In November

 Deshon Johnson aka Sean, transcended the role of a mere artist. He was a poet, a voice for the voiceless, a warrior, an inspirational figure, a giver of advice, a helper, and a compassionate soul who deeply loved his family and friends. Above all, his love for his mother was unwavering and unconditional.

Despite his short-lived life, Sean went beyond the boundaries of music. One of his goal was to become a cultural icon. Tragically, his potential for further greatness was cut short by Wilson Romain, a Coach USA bus operator. The Haitian bus driver intentionally took Sean's life with an NJ Transit bus. For those who knew him personally, Sean was a humorous young man, quick with jokes, and unafraid to speak his mind when mistreated. He avoided arguments and disrespected people, especially adults.

Sean utilized his voice to uplift those feeling low, instilling courage and motivation. His messages extended beyond music, advocating for justice, equality, and positive changes to empower a new generation globally. More than a hip-hop artist and rapper, Sean "Cos" Mason was the voice for the voiceless and a symbol of resilience, inspired by his mother, a teacher in the urban area. Sean carried on his mother's legacy fearlessly, aiding the youth as she did in her role as a teacher.

He used his platform to shed light on social and racial injustice, challenging societal norms. His powerful lyrics and compassionate humanity made him a beacon of hope for marginalized communities, a symbol of resistance against various issues. Sean observed his surroundings keenly, encouraging self-reflection and urging us to question our values and actions.

In addition to his musical talents, Sean showcased versatility as a visual artist, digital designer, engineer, songwriter, entrepreneur, college student, and extra actor, leaving a lasting impact with his rare magnetism. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy remains unshakable. 

The Bloomfield, New Jersey mayor recently presented a proclamation to his mother, recognizing Sean's life in this world and his enduring presence in entertainment and pedestrian safety.

As we acknowledge Sean's existence on this Earth, it is crucial to remember him not just as a college student and hip-hop artist, but as a lyricist and rising star who contributed to the genre. He used his platform to guide youth away from the pitfalls of the urban streets. Sean actively sought to keep his cousin out of jail, surrounding him with positive influences and encouraging a future free from incarceration.

Before his untimely demise, Sean left a resonating message in his music, featuring his famous tagline "Noneillah," followed by the plea, "Don't forget about me." He sparked inspiration in the minds of his peers to strive for a better life. His legacy lives on, reminding us that even in the face of adversity, voices can be heard, and actions can bring lasting change.

The month of November is publicly recognized as an observance for him. November marks Pedestrian Safety Month, a dedicated period aimed at heightening awareness surrounding pedestrian safety and emphasizing the crucial responsibility of drivers to be vigilant for pedestrians every time they are behind the wheel. The objective is to foster a safer environment for all road users by promoting awareness and encouraging cautious driving habits.
